Dying Easter eggs, which was really not that fun with small kids. I think it's inevitable to have some dye spill on the floor, even after you make it no fun for anyone because you are so worried about it spilling. I just don't want a pink floor! After they dried I let them put stickers on the eggs which they loved.
Uncle Greg came to visit again and we went back to Chicago. We decided to have a picnic on the beach! Halle thought walking on the sand was funny.
Probably the one thing we don't like about our house is that we have pretty much zero yard for the kids to run around in. I have issues with letting them run around when there is a street so close by because of the end of this post. The parks here also just have streets so close by so they don't get to be really free very often. They were both in heaven just running all around.
Even sticking their feet in the ice cold water.
Our best attempt at a family picture, but I love seeing the Chicago skyline in the background.
Playing in the sand was fun, until she put a handful in her mouth and I couldn't get it all out.
Then we went to the museum of industry and science... or something like that. They had this huge tornado machine, and since I'm terrified of them, we had to get a picture. I survived.
They had a bunch of these baby chicks that had just hatched, and some that were hatching. We even saw some of the eggs jumping around as the babies tried to get out.
Our kids banged on the glass and the babies came running over to them.
This was their absolute favorite part since they aren't allowed to play on our computers at home.
Some funny Hayden stories. Derrick's mom send us an Easter package, and it had these cute little window cling jelly things. We put them all up in the windows randomly. Later when I looked, Hayden had lined all the bunnies up like this and said that they needed to be with their friends.
This was one of those moments where I knew he was up to something because it was too quiet. I came downstairs to find him standing on the counter going through the cabinets. He found his vitamins and opened the child proof cap. (Have I told you that I'm tired?)

The museum of Science & Industry is so great! I haven't been there forever, though.
A thought on Easter eggs--we would color them with crayons, and then dip the whole egg in one single color of dye. The crayon color comes out looking pretty cool, and there aren't as many spills.
It looks like you're enjoying spring!
I read both your posts - so fun! Things are messy with little ones, Linus tried to drink the egg dye and Claire spilt almost a whole cup of it. SIGH, but we had fun!
I can't believe how big Halle is getting. Erin, it goes too fast!
Are you serious? He can open the child proof caps? I am so sorry Erin.
What a nice trip to Chicago. The beach looks amazing.
I hear you on the dying eggs thing. That is why I like the egg wrap around things. I just hold them in one arm and they see me drop the egg in the boiling water or with Owen he drops it in. Then I fish it out and we are done.
I agree on the coloring eggs with little kids thing :)
Looks like Hayden is too smart for his (or YOUR lol) own good! Stay on your toes!! Addie can totally get past our baby gates :(
Cute pictures! I love the one of Halle on the beach, and I especially love that she's literally a mini you!!
Wow the beach and the Chicago coastline look so beautiful! I'm glad you all got to play.
Looks like Easter was fun for you-I like the crackers in the eggs, that's a good idea. I've also seen stickers or little prizes hidden in eggs too. Fun to mix it up and have less sugar.
So glad Hayden is ok. sounds like a very emotional and hard time at the ER. It is so sad to see your kid in pain. :(
I really like your hair. How do you like it longer?
I am sooo jealous! I miss the beach so much!
Looks like you had so much fun over Easter!! I can't believe how fast your kids are growing up!! Halle really is a mini Erin and Hayden is a mini Derrick. So cute!!!
And I love the Derrick still has Aggie pride! GO AGGIES!!!
It was so good to chat with you tonight!!!!!!
Yep, both my kids can open childproof caps. Liesl has been able to since she was 11 months old! Mira just ate one of my prenatal vitamins Friday. Luckily, she spit it out.
We're moving into a house right next to a 35 mph street. I'm so worried about Mira running onto the road that even though we're renting, we're considering putting 20' of fence up to finish enclosing the yard.
Visiting Chicago. . . wow, that sounds fun! I think it's so cool you guys live out there. I remember how nervous you were about going.
