We got a plot with our community garden. It's 15x20 so we have a lot of room to plant things! I really really hope this garden turns out better than our previous tries. So far, so good! At the beginning of April we went and mixed in compost, put down straw in the walkways, and planted a few things. I planted lettuce, potatoes, carrots, peas, beans, onions, and garlic. It's been raining so much here we have only had to water once since then! We make sure to bring outside toys for the kids while we work, but it doesn't stop Halle from crying the entire time.
Look at the efficiency of this man! Isn't he amazing? I was not the only one taking pictures of this. :)
Last weekend we put up rabbit wire and weeded. Things are starting to come up really well! Soon we will plant the warm weather stuff.
Halle was covered in dirt when we left.
I made responsibility charts for the kids. Whenever they help me with something on it, they get money. The first day, I made sure to be generous so they would be able to see results. They earned 62 cents each. We went to the store and let them pick out a treat. Hayden even handed his money to the cashier and everything. He was really proud.
It's actually worked as a really great motivator and he has been so helpful. Even Halle has been! She loves to unload the dishwasher and she will help clean up toys if she sees Hayden doing it.
These are just some random things. Halle eating an oreo. Hayden made a picture with some cheerios. He said it was me. There are some eyes, a smile, and some legs. The boys fell asleep together on the couch watching the news one night. They are so adorable. And the middle picture is Derrick grilling dinner. Why does it always rain when we plan to grill? He has a system in place to be able to cook from the sliding door. And Halle's favorite thing is to take toilet paper all over the house

There were some crazy clouds when we had a storm one day. I may never get used to the storms here.
My baby is just ADORABLE when she's happy! I love the one of her looking at her reflection in the dishwasher.

First, I'm excited to see more of Hayden's 'macaroni art' (or cheerio's in your case). I remember when you were still prego with Halle... she looks just like you. Everything, even her hair.
I love Hayden's face in his picture at the store... he's not taking his eyes off his treat for no one! Look how proud he is!
And last... those clouds. They look like the beginnings of tornado season. I don't envy you. But know that I am praying for you always, that your house doesn't get eaten alive by a swirling mix of wind and debris, and flying cows and roof tops. :)
That picture of Halle looking at her reflection in the dishwasher is so cool.
Those cloud pictures are pretty amazing too!
How cool that your garden is coming along so nicely! How exciting. Derrick is so smart with those wheel barrows. :)
I like your reward idea. Wonderful Erin.
The double wheel barrow is hilarious!! :)
All you guys posting about your starting your gardens is killing me! lol we STILL need to get on ours! Goodluck with ours this year!
The clouds look cool, but everytime you post on facebook about tornado warnings and etc Im scared FOR you lol!
Your little responsibility charts are cute, I bet the kids LOVED getting their treats and felt so proud! :)
Hey...quick question. I am wondering what the straw is for?...just curious.
We put the straw down so Hayden would know where he could walk. :) But it's also good for putting around the plants to keep the moisture in and weeds under control.
