happy

Today was such a great day! I don't have bad days very often (I think that has something to do with no newborns in my house right now), but today was just exceptionally great.  My kids were happy.  I was happy.  The house feels really clean with just a little effort, and that's a good feeling.

We actually did learning time today, which has been a goal forever, but I just never did it.  We got a big bowl of water and dropped things in it to decide if they sink or float.  I don't think he really got the concept, but he had fun. (He also refused to get out of his jammies for most of the day.)
I think the best part of the day was naptime.  Isn't it always? :)  Halle is not the best nap taker.  On her own, at least.  She will sleep for hours if someone holds her, but the second you try to lay her down she cries.  Today I rocked her for a bit and then decided to put her down.  She whined for a minute, but she fell asleep!  On her own!  I think the trick may have been giving her warm soy milk in a bottle right before.

Hayden has stopped taking naps.  Pretty much since we got home from our vacation, he just couldn't fall asleep.  I decided he just needed quiet time downstairs, and that would have to do.  The frustrating thing is that he falls asleep in the car if we ever go out past noon, which makes running to the store hard.  But today, he slept!  It was great.  He fell asleep, Halle was asleep, so I had to take advantage of the time, and took a little nap myself. When everyone was awake, we decided to meet Daddy at the library on his way home from school.

Hayden actually did fall asleep yesterday too.  On the floor.  He's adorable.

He got a hair cut yesterday.  You can see why in the picture below.

After:

I hate when he gets his hair cut!  He looks adorable, but he looks like a big boy!  It's like he grows right up in five minutes.  He also insists on scooping his own food at dinner - another big boy attribute.  And he can count to 13.  Sigh.  I miss my  baby boy.  Although I haven't had to deal with any of this or this in a while. (knock on wood)

Here's one of Halle, just cause she's cute.

This is not exactly a happy moment yesterday.  Halle moved some of the blocks in the train Hayden was making, and they were both mad.

I am so glad you had a good day. Hayden is so grown. I can hardly imagine him not a baby. He looks more and more like Derrick and Halle looks more and more like you! So cute how that happened.
