We are so tired! It's the good kind of tired where you know you worked really hard all day. Here is what we have been up to.
Day 1
Dropped the kids off at a babysitter. Washed walls. Taped and put down drop cloths in the kitchen. I started painting but had to leave to pick up the kids so Derrick finished it. the blue is called Calling Bird. I brought back the kids and after the paint was pretty dry we started sanding the cabinets.

Yes, we painted cabinets against all advice. You know what? I LOVE them! We put on the first coat of paint and called it a day.
Day 2The kids came with us for the full day. We put a second coat on the cabinets. Washed walls, taped, and painted our room Spring Bud green. Did one more coat on the cabinets, and then Derrick had to go to work, so the kids and I went home.

This is our nap system at the house (which is the best time to get stuff done for sure! Hayden sleeps in the living room under a pillow placed on top of the boppy while he watches a movie. Halle sleeps in a pack n play.

The day wouldn't be complete without me getting paint in my hair.
Day 3

I painted the half bath orange. I swear to you this paint smelled like orange creamsicles. Yum. It was called Mondragon, but the kid didn't get the color exactly right so it was a little lighter than I had picked out. I ended up liking it anyway, so we just used it. Then I started painting the master bath this amazing blue color called Swimming Pool.

I guess I didn't get a picture of it finished. I have great plans for this room (and all of them really). Derrick had to go to work, but I stayed and worked. The kids both took an incredibly long nap so I painted the whole bathroom by myself. I'm super proud because usually Derrick has to get the tops. I figured it out this time. It was really exhausting though. Derrick got there and washed out the brushes and we decided it was time to go home because I was starving, and you don't want to be around me if I'm starving. Just ask him or my mom.
Day 4 - Today
We went to Lowe's and got a bunch of stuff, but we couldn't fit the other stuff we needed in our car with the carseats in. We got back to the house and I was about to use the spray we bought to take off a wallpaper border. Well, I pulled on it and the whole thing just came right off so that was easy. Then I got working on the kids bathroom which we painted laffy taffy yellow. It's called Like Butter.

The kids were having melt downs, especially Hayden who has taken up screaming at us when he gets mad, so we had to take a few breaks. The appliances came so Derrick and the delivery boys set that all up. They don't install dishwashers though, so Derrick took that one out of the box when they were gone and we noticed it was stainless steel and we ordered black. We have to wait until tomorrow for them to fix it. After naps and lunch, Derrick took Hayden to Lowe's while I finished washing walls and Halle slept. I was worried that something was wrong with the paint for Halle's room (called Love You Lots) because it seemed more liquid like and didn't cover the wall as well, but we decided it looked better when I did a second coat. So when Derrick got back I started working on that! It was the hardest yet. I wanted take off the tape before the paint dried so it wouldn't peel it off the wall, so I really had to hurry. After that I took a break and played with the kids while Derrick tried to install the microwave and wash out paint brushes. Then home to get ready for tomorrow!

The bottom is still white because i'm putting bead board on it.
I feel like I should be hating this more, because everyone talks about how awful painting is. I'm having fun though! Maybe it's because I picked such awesome colors. Maybe it's because it's actually our place and we can do fun things with it.
I know I picked really bright colors that most people wouldn't pick, but I never realized how bright they all were until I saw all the liners for the paint pans all together. Aren't they cheery?

I love all of your colors, Erin! Things are looking so great already! But I would LOVE to see a pic of the kitchen now with the new appliances (minus the dishwasher since it's not in yet)!
Bright colors are good! They help cheer you up when it's winter and you don't see the sun all the time! It'd be nice to paint without having to worry about moving/covering furniture! I'm a little jealous!
I for one love the colors you chose, espcially the kitchen and Halle's room! I can't wait until we live somewhere where I can paint the walls!
I love the colors you picked for your house!
I love the colors! I wish I were more daring and painted the walls in our house, I can't decide what color to paint them.
I hate all white walls in a house--way to be more interesting in your decorating. It looks like it'll be way cute. I want to see pictures when you're all moved in!
I think it is great that you did bright colors! It is coming together great!! Can't wait to see the finished project.
