"So what do you do all day?" I have been asked this a few times. Sometimes by pregnant girls who are wondering what their life will soon entail. Sometimes by other moms who wonder if they are normal. Sometimes by people who can't imagine what they would possibly do all day if they didn't work. I thought I would document a regular day in my life at this time to answer that question.
First of all, yesterday we had an early Dr. appointment for Hayden, so I had to be up before them. I'll be honest and say they usually wake me up around 7:30 or 8. I'm not an early riser and I'm ok with that. :)
So this time Derrick woke me up at 7. :) The kids were all still asleep so I got showered and ready really quick.
(not bad for a girl with strep... mommy doesn't get to be sick so I decided I would feel better if I got myself ready.) I feel weird about posting this picture... but it's what I did!
When I walked out I noticed Hayden was awake so I got him dressed. I usually make him do it himself, but we were in a hurry this morning. He wanted to lay back down.
When we came downstairs, Halle was awake eating breakfast.
Then Owen woke up, kind of. :)
I got him ready to go. He is pretty happy in the mornings.
Halle is ready, Hayden is eating, and getting his antibiotics for the morning. Derrick goes to work.
The kids are in the car and ready to go.
Owen, the little stinker, grew out of his infant seat at 6 months old! But he's not sitting up yet so he's basically a pain to take anywhere that I need to put him down. I wear him in my Boba a lot, but for instance at the chiropractor, it's not possible.
8:30, waiting room.
I brought crayons for while we were waiting for the doctor.
His appointment was good! I took him in Friday because of an infection and a fever. They thought maybe it was a UTI or bacterial infection and sent him home with antibiotics. Monday his doctor called me and told me it was Strep A! Sometimes it presents in kids as a stomach ache or an infection like a rash. (so I'm really sorry to anyone we saw this weekend... I really though it was just a bacterial rash and not contagious. if it helps you feel better, he infected me and I got a sore throat too.) His fever came back after a nap, so I called back in because a fever should be gone by 4 days on antibiotics. They told me to bring him in the morning for a shot to really attack it. They did another urine test first, and it looked like the medicine he was on was really doing it's job so there was no need. He had no fever and got the ok to go to preschool now.
Back at home, I decided to take advantage of Owen's happy time by cleaning.
Then Owen let me know it was time for a nap.
He slept for a bit while I relaxed, and then it was time to get the kids from preschool. We had a few errands to run.
They were really excited that I let them get some bells from the craft store. They are obsessed with bells, which is really weird.
It's a nice warm day! 51 degrees.
Then it's home for a late lunch.
And chore time!
They make their beds.
And help fold and put away laundry.
Even mommy helps, haha.
Owen wanted another nap, so I fed him and then relaxed with the laptop (facebook, email, blogs) for a bit, while Hayden and Halle played. But then I came downstairs to this. He knows I'm not happy about that lamp.
They played for a bit longer while I tried to figure out dinner. They drew some pictures with markers. Here is Hayden telling me about the picture he drew of me.
By this time I hit a wall and got really tired and not feeling so good. (remember I have strep too.)
Derrick gets home!
Dinner time.
And after that Derrick went to a meeting. The kids had hot chocolate for dessert. Halle spilled her whole glass right after I took this pictures, so we cleaned that up.
Then bath time for Owen and Halle. Hayden refused this time.
Owen got out and Derrick came home. Remember how it was 50 degrees earlier? Now we have a lot of snow and wind.
Everyone has jammies on. We do scriptures and a song and puzzle on the iPad. Then prayers.
And hugs.
And Halle wants a "backy" ride to bed.
Kids are in bed, and I work on a project for busy bags. (which I know are way late... I'm sorry.)
Then we sit at the table, relax and watch The Voice. I was starving at 10 pm so Derrick made me a bagel sandwich. :) He makes the best ones.
This is when I stopped taking pictures, but it took forever to get Owen to sleep. We watched more shows in bed until he fell asleep, and then we went to sleep at midnight.

I love this idea! And what a great idea to bring crayons for them to color on the paper while you wait? I'm going to do that next time! Thanks for sharing!!
Busy Day! (everyday ^_^) Your looks super pretty.
I hate that Mommy's don't get a chance to be sick. :( Sounds miserable. I hope you are all feeling better now.
I like the crayon idea. What a great idea.
I'm sorry your sick! You never would be able to tell by your picture and all that you accomplished. Super Mom!
This is such a good idea. I'm thinking I should do the same sometime before baby #2 gets here...I think it would be fun to look back and see what life was like with just one kiddo.
Fun post. I love how Hayden said something about your cute hair. ha ha...what an adorable boy.
So...I'm impressed that you did all that while you were sick! I would have just crawled into bed and made everyone watch movies with me until Jared came home. :)
Haha- I was just thinking (a little earlier today), I wonder what some other stay-at-home moms do during a normal day. Thanks!
