Today Owen has officially been here for half a year! It really doesn't feel like it's been that long! What did we ever do before he was in our family? He's really a sweetheart.
Here's what our boy has been up to.
He LOVES big brother and sister. They are the best entertainment and he always has big smiles and giggles to share. They love to play with him too and make sure their baby is taken care of.
He's huge! His next appointment isn't for another week, but my bathroom scale shows him at 19 lbs! He's wearing size 12 month clothes now. Hayden was 17 lbs at 6 months, and I thought he was big.
He loves to play with his little walk-a-round thing. Toys are a lot more fun these days. Everything gets picked up and chewed on.
He is for sure a mama's boy!
But Daddy is ok too.
He's my only baby to have ever found his thumb to suck on.
He's just plain adorable, as you can see!
We're still cloth diapering, which we all like. (It's much better than it was with Halle.) How cute is that diaper?! To be honest, the cuteness what the first thing that got me interested in trying it.
You never can tell how he's going to sleep. Some nights he only wakes up once, and sometimes (like last night) he's restless the whole night. We put the crib in our room this time. I like it, because I start him out there, and then just put him in bed with me when he wakes up. I don't trust myself to sit in a rocking chair with him. I fall asleep every time. I like having him close to me, and he sleeps better that way too. It also gives him a nice quiet place to take a nap because the kids like to play in Hayden's room lately.
He likes to eat! Applesauce is the favorite so far, although he did enjoy his little bite of split pea soup tonight. :) I normally wait until 6 months to start solids, but we started him at about 5, and just once in a while. He was showing all the signs of being ready, including grabbing the food off my plate!
He grabbed my hand to chew on one night, and I was shocked to feel a tooth had popped through! The only real teething sign he showed was a bit of a runny nose. I think #2 will be following soon.
It gets harder and harder for me to watch my babies grow so fast. I guess that's a good sign!
On the blog it's probably seemed like the transition to three was a piece of cake for me, and in some ways that's true. Owen has been easy and delightful. I have had my share of struggles though. Hayden and Halle have been in very hard stages, and Derrick's been travelling a lot for work. I have a lot of demands on my time and energy, but I guess that's just part of being a mom! I think I needed to post this tonight for me, to remind me that I have so much to be grateful for, and remind myself how fast this time is going to fly away from me. Many thanks to my family for lightening my load!

Wow I can't believe how big he's gotten! What a cutie!!
And that diaper is SO cute! I'm already having a fun time thinking about what kind of diaper I want our little boy in for his newborn pics. So fun! :)
Oh he is so precious. Crazy that Owen is already 6 months old. I still haven't met him either. That means it has been too long since our last play date. Let's change that. :)
My thoughts on the adjustment from 2 to 3 is that is isn't usually the baby that causes the stress but rather the siblings. We were in a tough stage with our girls when Aubrey was born but I do know some of that just came naturally with the birth of a new baby. I'm sorry that Derrick has been traveling though. That is definitely NOT fun, ever.
Love ya friend.
I love the picture of the arm through the crib slat! And yes, he is totally adorable. I can't believe he's 19 lbs, he doesn't look it! He must be super tall too because he doesn't look chubby at all.
I am TOTALLY with you on it getting harder each time to watch the baby grow up.
And - I really have been thinking about getting into cloth diapers. I don't sew though... so I wondered if you had any tips on where/how to get them for any type of affordable price. I used to be against cloth diapers, but as the years go by I am more inclined to think it's a good idea!! Any tips you have would be greatly appreciated.
I also wanted to say THANK YOU for your kind comment on my blog!! I too read your blog every time, but I don't always have time to comment. I love that I can keep up with you even though we aren't near each other!
My goodness Erin he is adorable! I can't believe he is already 6 months. I could just eat those cheeks!
Wish we could hang out Erin. :)
Owen is adorable. I agree..if they're ready then give them table food! Especially if he's already getting teeth. With Owen my pediatrician said that the research had shown that it was best to wait until after 6 months. Then with Reid it was the opposite. Waiting until 6 months seemed to increase the chance of food allergies, so start at 4-5 months. At that point, I figured it was all baloney and these scientists weren't really sure what was what {kind of like how they go back and forth about wine and coffee being good for you} and that I knew my baby best. :)
That is so cute that he found his thumb! Awww....no binkies this time then?
He's so cute! I can't believe how big he's getting!
