Quarantined!

This is my view lately!

We have the sickies at our house now!  Perfect timing, right?  Owen was only a day old when we realized something was not right with Halle.  She had a rash on her face that looked like an allergic reaction, and she was just not acting her normal self.  We gave her some benedryl and then a nap.  When she woke up, the rash wasn't gone, but looked worse.  We realized it must not be an allegic reaction and this is when I got worried.  I insisted that she be taken to instacare to be sure it wasn't some horrible contagious disease that could make the baby really sick.

It's fifths disease. :(

She had a cold last week, and now the rash.  She's actually not contagious now that her rash has broken out, but we still don't know if Hayden got it. If he did, he's contagious right now.  It's pretty heartbreaking for them to not be able to go anywhere near their new baby.  

I feel bad for Derrick who not only has the house, meals, and kids, but has a sick little girl to try to comfort as well.  She's pretty miserable.  Her rash itches and burns.  It's spread all over her face, in her ears, down her neck, bad in her armpits, and all over her tummy and back.  We've been doing lots of baking soda baths and calamine to try and combat the itch.

So Owen and I are now just in our room all day.  We had to put the gate up so the kids wouldn't come in and  spread germs.  We go out once in a while, but it's sort of a pain to try and keep the kids from breathing on him and touching all his stuff.

I had to come up with a hairdo to keep all Halle's hair out of her eyes and off her neck and ears.  It's still to short to really stay up with ponies or piggies, so I sort of just threw it up into a bunch of elastics.  I thought it would look funny, but it's actually pretty cute.  What else would you expect from Halle?

So I just stay in here and rest and recover, and watch Owen sleep (and eat!).

You can see that he has much more hair than my other two.

And then at the end of the day Derrick comes in and steals Owen away because he doesn't get to see him much.  Or me.  It's sad.  Owen has his days and nights mixed up, as you can see in the above photo.

And all his clothes are way too big!  I always know this will happen.  I make small babies.  But who wants to buy preemie sizes that won't last very long?

And I miss my big babies too. 

Before we realized what Halle had, I was able to get some pictures of Hayden with the baby.  One day when we can all be together again we'll get a family picture.
