House Tour!

I've been asked quite a bit for pictures of the new place, so I'm just putting them here so I can direct anyone who wants to see them to the blog.

Kitchen.  Seriously, I don't know what to do with those cupboards.  Some of them are actually empty.

I open that window and I can hear the kids playing outside.

Front room. I'm standing by the front door.  Between the kitchen and this room there are two stair cases - one up and one down. (my kids took down one of my frames, but I think you can see the hole where it goes.)

Other side of the living room. I love this window!  Our house has so much light. I love it.

Coat closet and the stairs.

Upstairs you run into the kids bathroom. ( I painted those monkeys!)

The baby's room,  which I obviously haven't done anything with yet.

And the kids' room right next door.  I have some fun colorful plans for this room!  There is also a bookshelf that you can't see.  These rooms are smaller, but they are the perfect size for them because we don't keep toys in their rooms.

Master.  I'm totally embarrassed about this room.  I need help!  I love my bedspread, although it bugs me.  It's not big enough, so I have it longer on the side with the door. It doesn't even really cover the other side at all.  I do have a bedskirt but my moving guys wadded it up into a big ball so it needs to be ironed.  I need stuff on my walls.  I need color.  And I have no ideas!  Help!  I need suggestions.  I'm giving birth in this room and I need it to be pretty and comfy.  I would love to get a bedroom set, but for now we are stuck with our student life furniture. Contrary to popular belief, the end of student life does not equal being able to buy stuff.  :) I do plan on getting Derrick a dresser because I am SO sick of the plastic ones he's been using our whole marriage. I need cheap decorating ideas. I have some frames, some little wall shelves, and I can look at DI and paint furniture. This will be the first room I decorate.

Bathroom on the left, closet on the right.

Master bath.  Hate the tiny counter.  Love the baskets and the black and white.

So this is looking out the master down the hall.  Immediate left is down the stairs, then there is a linen closet, baby's room, kids' room, and then the kids' bathroom to the right.

Down the stairs is another living room.

Half has the kids' toyroom.

Half has the tv and cuddler.

half of the back yard.

Other half.  (We got a sandbox!)

Also on that level is the laundry room and third bathroom.  This is the dryer we had to get because ours is gas, and there is only electric hookups.  We don't use the shower, so it was turned into an excellent place to hang wet clothes. ( HOORAY for not having Derrick's wet pants hanging all over the house!)

And there is another level!  You see the storage room.  To the left is a Harry Potter closet and the office.

The office/sewing room, which we haven't done anything with.  Eeek.

Now you can feel better about your own mess right?

Harrry Potter closet houses toy storage and the vacuum.

Also the storage room, which is nice and big and you can't see the food storage shelves to the left.

What I see when I look out the kitchen window.

The front!

And my poor little lemon tree on the front porch.  I have such hopes for this lemon tree.  I got it for free from a promotion on one of those online gardening stores.  It grew quickly when I got it and planted it, but I knew that it would take a year to produce any lemons.  It's been a year... and my children plucked off all the leaves! It was so sad.  I had to prune it down quite a bit, and it got blossoms.  I have been keeping it outside during the day, but it likes warm temps.  When the blossoms opened, they fell off.  Is that what fruit trees are supposed to do?  I don't know if it's going to produce anything this year.  I feel so sad for it when I count the leaves.  And I really have no idea how to take care of it because the website just says you don't really need to do anything to it.  So I just wait and hope.

So that's our little house.  We love our neighborhood.  It's nice and quiet here, but plenty of kids and really nice people.  We'll be here for a couple years while we try to save up and pay down student loans, and check out the area for a place we will eventually want to settle permanently.

I LOVE your house! Your kitchen is a dream come true for me. I love your green shower curtain. Did you buy it or make it?

What a cute house. I'm impressed you hung stuff up... I still haven't done much of that yet...

I love your house. I'm so jealous. We went and looked at showhomes over the weekend, just because we were that bored... and I had a huge meltdown. Everyone is buying houses except us! You are not helping my melt down!! :)

Kelsey, if it helps, we didn't buy. We're renting.
