Halle's big girl bed

Don't you hate travelling with kids sometimes?  It's always miserable trying to get them to sleep somewhere else.  Halle will only sleep in her crib or carseat.  So we decided that she was big enough to sleep in a toddler bed, and we thought it would make it easier for her to sleep on the floor while we are on our Christmas trip.  We already know she will have nothing to do with a pack n play, and she's way to big and wiggly to sleep in our bed.

I had to get one last picture of our not so much a baby anymore with her crib.  I have loved that thing.  I can't tell you how amazing the last year has been with two kids who sleep well.  I knew it would be tough to mess with an already perfect sleeping system.  And can you believe that I don't have a baby in a crib in my house anymore??

Isn't she a pretty little girl?

This makes me laugh.  This was five seconds later when I tried to get a picture of her in her crib.  I guess she didn't want a nap.
So yep, we just put the crib mattress on the floor.  That's how she will be on our trip, so we thought that was the best option for now.  When we get back we'll get something else.  I can't decide if I want to get her a toddler bed or a twin bed.  I'd love to her anyone's opinions on the subject.

She was excited for bed that night.  She had a hard few nights though.  She just woke up a lot and we had a hard time getting her to stay in bed, but it was easier than Hayden was.  The first night, Derrick went to check on her and she had rolled across the room to her dresser. I guess it's a good thing I didn't start with a twin bed and no rails!

We got her this baby bed and high chair for Christmas.  Since they are too big to come with us, and she didn't get a cool new bed to get her excited, we decided to give it to her that night.  Then she can put her babies in their crib and she can sleep in her big girl bed.  She's a cute little mommy! I have to admit that I'm thrilled that she likes dolls.  I loved dolls as a little girl and I always hoped my little girls would too.

What else can I tell you about Halle?
She has a fun little personality.  She is a very happy girl.  She often comes up to climb on my lap and play with my face.  She loves eskimo kisses and loves me to tickle her neck and chin.  She's always very cuddly and says to me, "Mommy, I want a hold you."  She talks a lot now, and she usually talks in almost full sentences.

She has a few funny little quirks.  If there is something on the table with a lid, and you leave the lid off, she will get very frustrated and beg and beg you to put the lid back on.  She also doesn't like a mess at her place or on her hands.  Even if it's just a little big, she asks for a rag for her hands, and she will move seats if she spills some on hers.

She's still a picky eater and won't touch vegetables.  I have faith that she'll grow out of it one day.  Her favorite foods are peanut butter sandwiches, cereal, crackers, chocolate milk, and PANCAKES!

She's always smiling and giggling as she chases Hayden around.  She had a hard time when she started nursery, but she's improved so much and she does so great now.  She cries for some babysitters, and not others. I haven't figured out what the difference is.

Her hair drives me crazy.  It's too short to put up in some spots (thanks to Hayden getting excited with her ponytail and some scissors one day), and it always looks messy.  It's so thin and it just sticks out everywhere.  When I ask her if she's pretty she says, "No, I'm handsome!"

She can count to 10, though not always perfectly.  We have some puzzles that she is really good at putting together. She knows some of the alphabet song.  Her favorite songs are Child of God, Sunbeam, and Popcorn, and she always requests those ones at bedtime. She actually knows most of the words too.

So she is so grown up! Wow. Moving to the big girl beds is such a bitter sweet thing. Maddie transitioned REALLY well but I know I'm not going to have such an easy time with Brooklyn... Oh sweet Brooklyn, who still doesn't sleep. I'm glad it is going well for you though.
And seriously, she is getting SO grown up! Miss you guys.

Halle is a doll! We moved Lucas from his crib to a toddler bed, but that didn't last long. My mom needed more storage space at her house, so my twin bed had to come to our house. When we got the twin we moved him to that as we don't have a lot of storage room. I actually think it would have been easier for us if we had transitioned Lucas straight to the twin.

Well, I don't have kids (^_^) but my parents had us from the crib into a twin bed. I think they did it for financial reasons so they didn't have to buy toddlers bed and then twin beds. It it worked for us 7 kids but also, every kid is different. So whatever works best for you and Halle. My sister has toddler beds.
