4th of july

um... yes, it's been a month.  I've been neglecting this old thing.  But, it was because we've been busy, which means I just have that much more to write about.  I think I will split it up so it's not so overwhelming...for either of us!

So, the 4th of July.  It's not the same as it was growing up where we had parades and fireworks and rodeos and big cook outs.  We didn't do much of that.  Derrick's mom flew in to watch the kids while we went on a vacation, so we at least got to do fireworks with her the night before we left.  Basically, Halle didn't really care except for the poppers and sparklers, and Hayden liked poppers and sparklers, but hated everything else. He hid in the garage.  And when they got loud he got really scared and jumped in my arms begging me to take him in the house.  The whole week of fireworks he did not go to bed on time because he quivers under a blanket while cuddling up next to me or Derrick.  He's just sensitive to loud noises I guess.  And apparently pretty much any fireworks are legal here, so they were really loud and booming. I was a lot more patient this year about the fireworks keeping my kids awake late, until some nasty neighbors put firecrackers on our door step.  If I were a little bigger I might have gone out there and caused some trouble.  :)

I took Hayden in early and he convinced me he needed ice cream at 10 at night.

When Halle joined us he decided he wanted to help her.  (Did you know they make soy ice cream, so Halle can eat it too?)
