Such a great weekend!

We did a bunch of really fun things this weekend.  Friday night we got a date!  We don't get to do that often enough, and it was really fun.  We got a gift certificate for Outback on a day when I donated blood, so we went there.  I loved it!  Eating out is always my favorite thing ever.  Then we went to the mall to do a little shopping.  Why can Derrick always find clothes he looks awesome in, but I can't?  Unless it's super expensive anyway. I did find a clearance pair of jeans that I am going to try turning into come capris or shorts... Anyone who can tell me how? There was a huge storm, and when we got home my friend who was watching the kids said the tornado sirens went off, but we never heard them.

We had fun that night as we were getting the kids ready for bed.  When you tell Halle to make a funny face, you get this.  Picture her opening and closing her mouth while she does it too.

Derrick's going to be so happy I put this on the internet, but look at Hayden's version:

Saturday morning we went to the farmer's market here.  It was really great!  I had never been before so we wanted to just check it out, mostly.  They had a ton of vendors with some great looking produce, breads, jams, soaps, desserts, soups, you name it.  Everything was a little more expensive unfortunately, but you know that it's good home grown stuff.  Hopefully one day we can eat lunch there because their soups smelled amazing!  We have discovered that Hayden loves eating peas straight out of the garden, so we bought some for him.  They were a little too big and too bitter though.  At least we realized we should pick ours before they get too big.

After the farmer's market, we went to our garden to see how it was doing.  I am SO excited about how things are growing!  I seriously get giddy and can't stop talking about how much fun it was whenever we leave there.  A bunch of green beans were big enough to pick, and some peas.  We have also been harvesting the lettuce, but we planted way more than our family can eat!  We also picked some peas.  We would have had more, but Hayden ate most of them.  Is there anything better than sweet peas straight out of the garden?

We forgot to bring a box, so I had to carry the green beans in my shirt.

Later that day we went to a little fair of sorts called "Taste of Tippecanoe." (yes, what a funny name for a county.)  I guess it's modeled after Taste of Chicago.  They had restaurants set up tents all around downtown.  You could buy tickets and go to the different booths to get some of their food.  They all had regular sized entrees, or you could get a sample for one ticket.  We decided to just go around and get as many samples as we could get with our tickets.  It was really fun to try a lot of new foods, and now we have some restaurants we want to try.  The kids got free frisbees so we stopped and played for a while.  Halle and I got slushies, and Derrick and Hayden tried dippin' dots.  Of course, Hayden had to try the slushee too.

Have I mentioned how much rain we've been getting?  I've only had to water my garden 3 or 4 times in June because it rained so much.  The river looks like it's about to overflow.

And then came Father's Day.  We always like to have a hot breakfast on those days, but Sundays are such a hard day for us to do that!  We're usually late for church anyway. This year I made a breakfast casserole the night before and just threw it in the oven while we were getting ready.  A lot less stressful, and we still got to have a nice breakfast together.  After church Hayden helped me wrap Derrick's presents.  He totally picked out the Transformers wrapping paper all by himself.  This year we gave him an alarm clock with an iPod dock, his priesthood line of authority framed, some handkerchiefs, and some Sudoku puzzles for his bus ride.

Good daddies let their kids open their gifts.

And get lots of cuddles!

My kids, (and I) are SO lucky to have him!  What a great guy.

You are such a cute wife. Framing his Priesthood line of authority is such a good idea!

Your gardens looks awesome! How fun and yummy!

I hear you on the pants. Guys have it way easier than us girls. Do you want frayed bottoms or hemmed?

Every time I see a picture of Halle she looks so much older! What a sweetie. I loved all the pictures especially the one of you and the kids drinking your slurpie and then the one of derrick and the kids being silly. What fun pictures.
