Here are some more of our flower activities. I didn't take pictures every day, and I can't remember what day these were, but here you go.
I know this was on a Monday. I try to have Mondays be a day to make treats for FHE.
We made ice cream bowls out of chocolate. I got the idea from my friend Delia (man, can you tell I steal her ideas or what?) and also Bakerella did a little variation on them
Dip balloons in chocolate and let them set up in the fridge. Pop them and you have a little edible bowl to eat ice cream in!

Halle did not get one because she did not even touch her lunch or dinner. She was mad.
This was our bird feeder day. Hayden found some dried out corn cobs in the corn field by our garden. We took them home, tied a string around it, spread peanut butter on it, rolled it in birdseed, and hung them in the tree outside our window. The kids loved looking outside and seeing the birds stop to eat them. Hayden would always yell, "That birdie's eating our tweats!"
I guess that's all the pictures I have of our activities. I have slacked the last few days because we were so busy with our garden and a bunch of other things. We attempted to make ice cream today but I didn't have enough cream. I know people have asked for an activity list, so I will try to get one posted soon.
Hayden is my little helper now that he gets money for it! One night as we were putting them to bed he started folding the towels on the couch - all his own idea! It was pretty cute. He started his own stacks and everything.
The next morning he started doing the same thing. He was pretty proud. You can see his stack on the right.
I took away all the toys that the kids threw down the stairs. They were pretty much toyless for a few weeks. Finally I got sick of how bored they were so I brought out some old toys that we had stored away to switch out. It was like brand new toys again! I pretty much had a few hours to myself that morning.
I actually got Halle to eat her lunch one day!
She even said please.
And asked for some milk.
And said thank you.
And she told me when her milk was all gone.
We love signing! She's actually pretty good at communicating with us and can say all those words anyway.
This is one day that we decided to go check out campus with some friends. We rode the bus there and let the kids play in the engineering building. Then we rode back with Derrick. Fun day!
I was changing Halle's sheets one day and I got stuck upside down in the crib! I yelled for Derrick to come help me but he just laughed and took a picture. I guess I deserve it because I always do that to my kids when they get in silly situations. :)
Look at our garden!! Thsi was when we got everything planted and we started putting more straw down. The potatoes and onions are covered in straw in this pictures. Just to the right of that are pumpkins which Hayden insisted on having - put I have a feeling I'm going to regret it because it will be everywhere. We also have lettuce, 6 tomato plants, two little carrot patches, green beans, peas, egg plant, peppers, peas, spaghetti squash, cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, garlic, broccoli, and cauliflower. There is a whole plant bed that is missing in this picture. Isn't it exciting! Everything is planted and growing well. I think I am going to have to learn how to can tomatoes. I plan on freezing a lot of it too.
We covered everything in straw but a few things like lettuce and carrots that I am going to have to thin. This keeps the soil moist longer after you water, and keeps the weeds at bay. I was a little sad to see it all covered up, but this will be helpful.

That's the funnest picture of you! Those ice cream bowls are the cutest idea EVER! I'm going to try that one out! And I'm so jealous of your garden, my apartment balcony faces north, so I don't get any direct sunlight- I can grow some pansies, and that's basically it.
Your garden sounds like a dream! How exciting! I have never heard of the straw trick for all plants...only for strawberries. That is really cool.
I like your corn on the cob bird feeders. Very cool.
Hayden is a really good little folder! Way to go!
I do read his funnies but should have commented on them - sorry. I love how he tells you to go get the camera and the kiddie one is on my favorite list. :)
Ive actually been debating on stealing your idea of posting Hayden's comments for a while now -he's hilarious and its such a fun thing to read!
