The 4th

We were invited to two bbq's on the fourth. There are some really amazing people here that we are so glad to get to know. It gives me hope that one day this place can feel like home.

It's different here because everyone has kids. And we are not the family with lots of kids like we were in our old ward. It's nice not to be the weird one anymore. So at the first bbq there were four kids and they all happened to be dressed in red! Don't you love trying to get a bunch of babies to smile?
At the next place there were about 10 kids. They had a trampoline in the back yard. I am in love with nets around trampolines because they reduce my incessant worry. Hayden had a blast. We need one.

Then we went to watch the fireworks. I guess on the way to the fireworks, when you are really excited, you make faces like these while you sing a really loud screechy song.

It was raining, so we stayed in the car. He just sat and watched... And leaned on the horn a couple times... And cried when it scared him.

When we were leaving he said, "Yeah! Uh-works!" and clapped. Of course, he wouldn't show excitement until it was over! He was dead asleep when we got home, and didn't wake up until late the next morning. I think I like when he stays up way late.

Proof that Halle was there, although I could only get a picture upside down. I could flip it, but this way you get the full effect.

Proof that we actually saw fireworks.

So that was our first holiday away from our family. Not too bad.
