My Top 3

I have been doing a lot of cooking lately! It seems that sometimes I don't want to cook at all so we just do easy things or frozen things, but sometimes I get into a really experimental mood and I want to try a bunch of new recipes. I was thinking yesterday about how much I have been using some of my kitchen items and thought I would share my three favorite! (This is also for Brittany who says all parents should blog about something besides their kids.)

#3 - Cutco knives! I LOVE these knives. Derrick's cousin gave us a set of four steak knives for our wedding, and it's all I use for everything! They can seriously cut through anything. I was impressed when his cousin was giving us a demonstration and I cut through a piece of rope so easily. I routinely cut through frozen chicken. They aren't even dull yet. I'm told they never will get dull but if they do you can send them in to get sharpened for free because of their guarantee. We have a set of cheapo walmart knives, and the only reason I keep them is because I use the scissors and the occasional steak knive to open a bag. They are worthless. So much that I will use a cutco steak knive for everything! I'm sad I only have four. I would order more, but they are way expensive.
#2 - Dollar Store spatula. When I got married, my niece picked out a pink spatula for my bridal shower (she loves pink). I loved it and when I asked my sister-in-law where she got it, she said the dollar store! I went and bought more. I still have the pink one too. :) This is a pampered chef one ($14!), but it's the same shape. No need to spend $14. Just go to the dollar store.

#1 Pampered Chef food chopper - I use this almost every meal! Yesterday I made enchiladas, so I used it to chop the onions (we like them really tiny), the green chilis, and the chicken. The day before I made some creamy chicken soup, and I used it for carrots, onions, celery, garlic, and chicken. It was so much faster than cutting everything individually. I love this thing and it was definitely worth the money!

Here are my favorite recipes I have been cooking lately:

I love those little chopper things. I don't think mine is a pampered chef one but I love it too! It sure works well. How did your tortilla's turn out last night by the way?

I should try a chopper! What a great idea. I have an electric doohickey type chopper thing but it is a paint to haul it out.

I LOVE Cutco knives. My parents have the set and they are AMAZING.

I am going to have to try that homemade tortilla recipe. Can you use butter instead of shortening...do you know? It is funny, because I just posted about my favorite raw tortillas from Sam's. :)

ou, i love the chopper as well! A definate must have. My favorite kitchen item as of late is our lime juice thingy. It's kinda like a garlic press but squeezes all the juice out of the lime, and I mean ALL the juice! Love it, got it at Sur la Table at Gateway. It's great if you use limes as much as we do.

There is nothing better than good knives and easy machines. :) Do the dollar store spatulas go hard? I love when they stay soft! My sister posted a bunch of really good recipes on our blog, you'll have to check them out: DecliciousBeansAndThings.blogspot.com

I love my blendtec blender that we got for Christmas...makes the best smoothies, and even soup.
