Growing up my family always had a fun Halloween tradition of getting together the Monday before and having a party. We would have soup in bread bowls and carve pumpkins. Now that we live too far away we can't travel for it, and I hate knowing they are there having fun without me, so I decided we are going to have our own fun traditions for Halloween!
I was planning on pumpkin carving for FHE, but instead we decided to go to the Pumpkin Walk. (haha family, you can't go to that!) For those who don't know, the pumpkin walk is where the people in the community make scenes out of pumpkins for people to walk through and look at. They can do some really fun things with pumpkins. Here are some pictures.
We had carved a pumpkin at a ward party, but we had two more. We decided to paint them on Thursday night. Hayden had a blast, as you can see. Here is what we ended up with:
On Halloween I made a spooky dinner of corpseloaf (basically meatloaf shaped into the shape of a person), and mashed potatoes with green goo (country gravy with green food coloring in it), and witches fingers (asparagus). I, for some odd reason, had been craving asparagus. I'm not sure why because it's not my favorite, and I wasn't too impressed this time either. I took pictures of the food, but I hate doing that because whenever I take pictures of food it looks greasy and gross, even if it wasn't. So I will spare you. Dessert was a pudding graveyard which my mom made every year, so I had to keep up the tradition.
After dinner we went trick or treating with a group of people from our ward. It was really fun! I was excited that Derrick got to come this year. Hayden had lots of fun too and was exhausted by 7:30.What a cute puppy! He loves anything soft, and when we were putting his costume on he was kissing it! This morning he found it in his room and brought it to me to cuddle with! What a silly kid.

He does look adorable. It sounds like your dinner was fun - I don't even think of doing fun things like that.
That pumpkin patch looks hilarious!! You look so cute and prego!!
oh fun! i'm sad we missed out on the ward pumpkin activity! haha, I couldn't tell what Hayden was, I thought he was a llama! now that i know he's a puppy, he's a very cute pup!
I just read Tannie's blog and you are full of good information! You give such great advice and it seems like you know so much. I just have to say you are such a GREAT mom. I love the dinner you made for Halloween. I will have to copy you next year. Good idea on the painting your pumpkins thing too. We have always just excluded Owen from the whole experience until this year and that is a great way to get them involved young. I love it!
Also...I think it is so cute that Hayden is attached to that bear. When the baby comes it will be good for him to cuddle "his baby" when you do and put diapers on it. That is if he goes for it. We tried that with Owen...he looked at us like we were crazy when we told him to put a diaper on his bear.
Wow sounds like you guys had a wonderful Halloween. Very cute costume.
