Hayden helped me cook for the first time. I think this was about two weeks ago. I made these cream cheese pumpkin muffins, which you should try because they were so yummy! We needed to stay out of Derrick's way because he was studying so I thought this was a good way to keep us busy and Hayden entertained. Hayden loved it. It was fun for me too, even though I had a gigantic mess to clean up afterwards. Here he is helping me stir the dry ingredients and getting flour everywhere.
Sleeping has been rough for Hayden since we took away the pacifier. Which means it has been rough for all of us! No matter what we try he just won't sleep. We tried letting him tell us when he was ready, but now he just always says no when we ask him if he wants to go to bed. Surprisingly, at first he would say yes when he was ready. Then we tried adding a bath to the routine which worked for one night. Then we tried getting him ready and letting him sit in our bed watching a movie with us until he started falling asleep. That worked one night, but the next night he wouldn't sit still. Nap times are impossible because he just cries when I put him in his crib awake and I can't put him in asleep anymore because my belly is in the way and I just end up dropping him! Lately he has been falling asleep on my lap and then I transfer him to the couch. So it's pretty frustrating now since we took away his comfort and his sleeping aid. If you have any ideas we are willing to try anything!
He has become pretty attached to this bear and tries to find it when he's upset. And then he throws it at me when he's mad.He fell asleep in my bed the other morning because his room was too cold, so I took a picture. It's been a long time since we had a sleeping picture of him because we don't like to bug him when he falls asleep. I thought it would help me remember how sweet he can be when he's driving me crazy, but it just makes me laugh whenever I see it. You can see by his lips how much he misses the binky still!
It was pretty funny after dinner last week when he found one of the little plastic rings that you take off the milk when you open a new gallon. He put it on his neck like a necklace and ran around with it! I was surprised that it fit so well on his neck. It's falling off in the second picture, but he really goes almost all the way around his little neck.
On to Rocky!

I'm sorry about Hayden sleeping. . . that is soooo frustrating, especially since you only have a few months to get him sleeping again before your baby girl is born. I don't really have any advice to you about bedtime, except try to make sure it is the same each night. If it doesn't work for a few nights in a row, that's okay, just keep persisting and maybe he'll get the hint. Does that make sense? This is what we do with Claire if it helps. 1. Bath - though she only gets this every other night. When she was little we HAD to do it EVERY night. 2. Scriptures and stories while she drinks milk. 3. Brush teeth and take vitamins. 4. Say prayers. 5. Sing two songs in the rocking chair. 6. Bed with children's primary songs playing while she falls asleep.
I'm so sorry that you're having to go through this right now. I feel so bad for you. Being a mom can be hard and I wish that every kid would come with an owners manual. It would make life a lot easier!
Hayden is really cute, sorry to hear it is hard for him to sleep now. I hope it gets better for all of you.
I agree with the clean house, but with me I always try to have a very clean house when I know someone is coming over but if someone jusy stops by they would see the real house that isn't that clean.
