This is what I usually find myself telling Derrick sometime when he gets home from work. I love it because Derrick loves Hayden as much as I do, so he thinks everything Hayden does is cute too. So sorry to bore the rest of you, but this is as close as I get to a journal and I don't want to forget what things he is learning now.
He loves to dance! It is the funniest thing ever. Whenever he hears music on the radio or a movie (Jungle Book is his favorite) he starts bobbing his head or stomping his feet and turning in circles. He thinks it is the funniest thing ever too. He even does it in the car.
He wiped a tear the other day! It was so cute. He was sad and Derrick was holding him. He reached up and wiped his tear away. I have never seen him do that before. I don't feel weird that I think it is cute because Derrick pointed it out too.
Last week I went to get him from his nap and he had pulled off all the diapers and a big bag of newly opened wipes from the dresser into his crib, along with a can of Febreeze and a bunch of clothes. He proceeded to take all the diapers out of the package and pull apart all the wipes. Why does making messes come so naturally to babies?
He is starting to eat with a spoon really well! He does best with yogurt and applesauce. I have to hold the container though or it will end up upside down on the floor.
He licks his fingers when he is eating and makes smacking noises.
He is always running everywhere. He is walking like a normal person now (not so wobbly even with shoes) and he can walk for hours I think. On Sunday I had to take him outside during Sacrament and he walked almost all the way around the building just exploring and running away from me. It's a really big building - really a stake center and it has two of everything (chapels, kitchens, RS rooms, etc.)
He signs more whenever he is hungry, and all gone when he knows it's gone. He kind of says all gone and drink.
He can usually entertain himself for hours which I love! He just walks around and finds things to play with and tries to figure out how they work. I love his independence, because I get some too.
We took him swimming twice this week. He is a little fishy! He loved splashing around and kicking his feet. He was all smiles and giggles the whole time. With his friend, Kaden.
This was yesterday.
He also throws tantrums now, which is not so cute. But if I am in the right mood I can think it's funny. He cries and falls to the floor (always going to something soft first) and puts his head down. Then he looks up at me and throws his head back down to the blanket, crying the whole time.
I also realize that I was confusing in my last post about how far apart Hayden and the new baby will be. They will be 21 months apart. Don't worry, it only took an entire room of women before Relief Society started to explain to me how to figure this out! We will blame this on pregnancy brain, which is a real thing (i looked it up.) This is also why I have missed numerous appointments. If I have missed an appointment with you and I didn't apologize, sorry, but I probably still don't remember it.
On to Rocky!

Can we bring Claire over tomorrow around 2:30? I think we will try to do a session (I may starve by the end, but at least I won't puke). We would do the 3:00 session and then be back in time for dinner. Does that work for you guys? I'd do it in the morning, but I am helping Laura clean her house for a while, and then I have to clean mine and go grocery shopping. HOORAY - busy Saturdays. :)
You are so funny Erin. I don't think your stories of "Hayden did the cutest thing today" are boring. I actually love hearing stories like those because it makes me not feel so stupid for always sharing weird things so thanks for sharing.
I hate missing all the things Hayden is learning. He was just barely starting to walk the last time you were here.
You've got to catch his dancing on video. I need more videos!!!
Sounds hilarious and so cute! I love the diaper and wipes mess because Liesl does that, too, or used to when she wore diapers. Dancing babies are always cute. Eating babies are always cute. And aren't we so lucky that the fathers of our children love them just as much as we mothers do?
