Ok, I can't believe I'm posting this because it is so gross, but my mom wanted to see the pictures. Two weeks ago I was cleaning in our dining room under a table in the corner (not on the table we eat at. It was on the opposite side of the room). I saw what I thought was a piece of food that Hayden had dragged under there. I reached for it to pick it up and I was absolutely disgusted to discover that it was not a piece of food, but a mushroom growing in our carpet.
I cannot believe I touched that thing! It's huge! It grew so fast. I vacuum everyday so Hayden doesn't eat stuff off the floor and it was the first day I saw it. I called my manager the first time I had a chance and he came right over to look at it. When they pulled up the carpet they found... nothing! Water had leaked when we first moved in from our washing machine and you could see the water mark, but it was not wet, there was no mold or rotten wood, there were no other mushrooms and you couldn't even see any remnants of the mushroom under the carpet. The manager called the carpet guys and they said they have seen them before and it had something to do with the carpet glue. They said it was probably some freak thing where the seed had been tracked in from somewhere and when the washer leaked it had created a good environment for it to grow. They sprayed some stuff on it that was strong enough to kill it, and they cleaned all our carpets the next day! I had been wanting to get this done for a while because Hayden is crawling and eats thing off the floor occasionally. So it was a blessing in disguise! I know probably none of you wanted to hear about this, but I always only blog good things, but in real life not so good things happen too. And please don't be afraid to come to my house anymore. I swear I really do clean it!!
