I'm always late... But Happy Valentines Day!!
Yesterday was so fun. It's not fair to anyone to get a baby sitter on Valentine's Day, so until we move to a family ward and have the young women baby sit for us, we will have to celebrate on a different day, or stay home. This year we decided to have our friends Kyle and Dana over, but Kyle had some big projects due for school so Dana just came over. We made the cafe rio salads again! YUM. They were even better this time. After that we decorated cupcakes!
I bought a cake decorating set because I wanted to make Hayden's birthday cake (can you believe that is in less than a month?!) and I need to practice. I planned on making cupcakes so I could practice and play with all the different kinds of tips. I opened a cake mix and started pouring in ingredients... well I realized that I had mixed up the oil and water measurements so I had triple the oil that I needed! Derrick suggested that instead of wasting the cake mix I should just add more cake mixes and the rest of the ingredients so we would just have more cupcakes, and then we could deliver them to neighbors for valentine's.... So we had three boxes worth of cake! We still have more to decorate if anyone wants any. We didn't end up decorating them all or delivering to anyone but one neighbor.
So after dinner my good friend Dana decorated cupcakes while Derrick sat at the table and did homework and ate our cupcakes. Some turned out really cute! We are nowhere near professionals but it was really fun anyway. Here are a few that we did...
This little guy is a miracle. I made it special for Derrick , and right after he put it in his mouth (the whole thing! It's a game he plays.. :) )I made him take it out so I could take a picture! It survived!
This one started to look like a lunch lady's hairnet so Dana drew a face on it!
Cute bow on the hat! I don't know what I did, but some cupcakes turned out with big hills on them, so they turned into hats.
This was too funny. Derrick was taking pictures of us, but he couldn't get us and the cupcakes at the same time so he told us to get under the table and poke our heads out . HAHA! We had too much fun and laughed too much.
During the decorating, our doorbell rang. When I opened the door, this is what I found:
We were heart attacked! We don't know who did it! I couldn't tell by the handwriting.
The husband's contribution:
HAHA! Thanks whoever did that! It made my night!
After that we went to leave cupcakes on our neighbors' door, but we didn't have a paper plate, so we had to leave them on a paper towel. Sorry guys, I know that's kind of weird. Then we realized that we didn't get a picture of them so we went back and they were still on the doorstep.
Derrick and I wrote letters to each other for Valentine's Day. My mom gave me this cute card that she made to give to him, and Hayden made a Valentine for him too.
In other news, Derrick's parents went to Argentina to pick up his brother from his mission, and they brought back some souvenirs. Hayden got this cute shirt from Zoo Lujan. It's like a petting zoo! They let you go in and pet the tigers and lions and stuff. My mother and sister-in-law put milk in their hand and they had either lions or tigers (can't remember which) lick it out of their hands! Can you believe that. I'm not daring enough. I would have been the one taking pictures from the outside, for sure. So anyway, the shirt. It's a cute fuzzy lion. They also gave him this super cute hat. (Do I say cute enough?) I wish he would wear hats, but he pulls them off. At least he wore it long enough to get a picture.
On to Rocky!

It looks like you had a waaay fun night! And your cupcakes look great!! I can't believe Hayden will be one so soon! I have no doubt that you will make a beautiful cake :) Thanks for the your comment about the baby jumper and walker. One of my good friends actually bought me a Bumbo chair for a baby shower gift, but she ordered it online and it hadn't arrived last time I saw her. Now that you said Hayden liked his, I am even more excited for mine! Thanks for offering yours, though! You are wonderful :)
Fun!
Hayden is just so cute - I can't believe it.
Hayden is so darn cute! I love his cute little chubbin' cheeks! I want to kiss him and hold him! What a sweety pie! I wish I could be creative and think of cute things to make. I love the cupcakes that you made. They are absolutely adorable! They look very professional. And your neighbors are very funny with the 'heart attack' on your door. That way way cute! I laughed so hard. I miss being young and having those kind of opportunities. We hope to see you soon. We love and miss all of you so very much!!!!!!
Love,
Sherry
ERIN!! I knew it was you, cupcake stalker!! Haha, thanks, yeah they were out all night but we ate them the next day anyway!! They were a little funny tasting from being outside all night but they were so cute! Good job!
What a fun Valentine's Day! And Jake and I have left cupcakes on a paper towel before too, so we don't think it's weird!
You should seriously go into the cupcake decorating business!!! Sooo cute! And I love that heart attack idea! We'll have to do that for someone next year. :)
