buddy boy

Hayden has been so fun lately. He has such a cute little personality. I can't believe how smart he is. I can tell that he really is starting to understand us when we talk to him. When I say "Do you want some crackers?" he immediately stops what he is doing and swings his arms in excitement for a cracker.

I opened the blinds today in our room and he crawled over to look out. It was the cutest thing, watching him tiptoe to be able to see over the window sill.

He is a mess maker too! I can't believe some of the messes we have now that he can get into things. I don't' have to worry about him losing his balance so much anymore, and he crawls from room to room to entertain himself. But if he is out of your sight for 10 seconds you have a huge mess to clean up.
He found a container of the Gerber puffs without a lid. He pulled it off the desk, dumped them out, and had a nice little breakfast.

He also babbles a lot when he plays. It's so funny! You know how when you hear a new language it just sounds like one big sound instead of separate words? After a while of listening to it you start to be able to separate the words. I can't remember what this is called, but Hayden can do it now. I can tell by the way he babbles. He tries to make separate sounds. He is trying to say something important! I know this because he says it so loud! He has also developed a loud high pitched ear drum breaking scream that is going to make us all go deaf one day. If he is quiet then he has found something to put in his mouth that probably shouldn't go in there.

Here he is telling you all about his lunch.

He has always gotten really excited, but lately he gets super excited and thrashes about in an almost violent way. This is what caused him to jump off my lap at church the other day and somehow landed on his head on the floor and start to scream. He really wasn't hurt very much. He was mostly scared. This was all during Relief Society (where I sit in the front because I'm in the presidency, so everyone saw) and in the middle of Bishop speaking to us, and it was a long loud walk to the hall where he calmed down as soon as I showed him the snow outside. He also fell off the bed on Saturday for the first time. We felt so bad, but I guess that's part of learning about gravity. And learning to watch your baby better when he is on the bed.

Hayden got to meet his Uncle Alex for the first time last week. He just got home from his mission in Argentina. Derrick's parents got to go to Argentina to pick him up and we went to meet them at the airport. Apparently Hayden wasn't the only grandchild to not know Alex, because Derrick's niece ran right past him to go see Grandpa! It was quite funny. I guess you can't blame her.
Waiting at the airport. This was before he puked on Derrick. :)

Welcome home!

We have been getting tons and tons of snow. I think this is the worst winter I have ever had in my life as far as the amount of snow. Right now in our backyard there are about 11 inches. Derrick took this picture, but it was at night so it's hard to see.

ughh. I can't wait for spring. My favorite day of the year is when I don't have to wear a jacket anymore.

Hey just so you know every baby falls off their mom at least once. It is just something that happens. I was listening to your music and I love the Micheal Buble songs you have on there. Have you ever seen the Wedding Date?
